Okay, so this wasn't a layout for Rice Boy, but I look at Pan's Castle as being Rice Boy's predecessor in many ways. I created Pan's Castle back in 2001 as a shrine to Gohan's daughter, Pan, despite the fact that I'd actually only seen her in some crappy manga scans from the last chapter of Dragonball Z. I claimed it as a shrine to Pan, but really, it had all kinds of random DBZ things on it. I think that's pretty much displayed by the fact that despite that I said it was a shrine to Pan, Videl was the character on the above layout.

I kept a few of PC's layouts. I like to look at them sometimes because it REALLY shows me how much I've improved. The above layout was made on an old version of Coral (no, not PSP; this was when PSP was a product of Jasc) from 1997 or 1998 and it wasn't coded on anything, as I used a drag-and-drop page builder back then.

"Simply Rice's" first layout ("Simply Rice" became "Rice Boy" sometime in 2005). To be honest, I based this layout a bit off of a layout one of my friends at the time, Alaysia, had made for my personal blog. I am still rather fond of how I made the text look like it was popping out from the screen.

This layout was done on Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and coded in Notepad, as I remember. It featured a manga scan of Gohan from the Cell saga. It was up for a very short time. It was an iframe layout that hugged the bottom left side of the screen. I didn't ever take a screencapture of it.

"Simply Rice's" second layout. Oh, gosh. This layout was just plain hideous. I have no idea what I was thinking.

This was created on Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and coded in Notepad. It was a DIV layer layout. The navigation was in the top box and the content was in the second one. A screencapture from DBZ's first ending was used as the layout picture.

"Simply Rice's" third layout. I didn't make this. That's why it looks over nine thousand times better than any other layout in Rice Boy's first year.

This DIV layout was made by my good friend, Tracy. The picture used is a colored scan of one of the Cell saga's chapter pages. I think she used Jasc Paint Shop Pro, but I honestly can't remember. She also installed PHP Fanbase for me when she made me this layout. It was through browsing Fanbase that I learned how to use PHP. I really owe a lot to Tracy. She helped me so much back in the day. She was the one I always cried to when I was having coding problems with layouts.

"Simply Rice's" fourth layout. This was the first layout for Simply Rice after it became a shrine combined with the fanlisting. I don't have much of an opinion on this one.

This was made on Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and coded in Notepad. It used yet another Cell saga manga scan. It was an iframes layout.

Year: 2004
Version: 5

"Simply Rice's" fifth layout. I thought this was absolutely beautiful when I made it. Now I believe it to be the second ugliest layout in Rice Boy's history.

It was created using Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and was another iframes layout. The picture used was a Freeza saga screencap. It hugged the bottom left side of the screen. Coded in Notepad.

Year: 2005
Version: 6

"Simply Rice's" sixth layout. This was the final layout the site had under the name "Simply Rice." I still like this layout, if only because of the fact that the image used is one of my favorite pictures of Gohan.

It was created in Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and was ANOTHER iframes layout. It was on the upper left side of the screen. The picture was from the Saiyajin saga during Gohan's training. Coding was done in Notepad, as usual.

The seventh layout for the site. At this point, the site changed from "Simply Rice" to "Rice Boy." When I was making this layout, I was listening to Kageyama's song, "Omori Rice Boy (A Big Serving of the Rice Boy)." I was tiring of "Simply Rice" as a name. It hit me that "Rice Boy" would make the perfect name for a Gohan shrine, especially considering Kageyama's song, "Omori Rice Boy" is about Gohan.

This was my first layout of all doujinshi scans. It would be far from the last. I purchased that adorable doujinshi (I believe it was Junior Majunior?) and was just addicted to the doujinshi-ka's style for Gohan.

Ye another iframes layout. Seriously, I must have been obsessed with them for a year there, because it seems like most layouts I made from 2004 to early 2005 were iframes. It was created on Adobe Photoshop 3.0 and coded in Notepad. I used a Squidfingers background for the page.

Layout Eight seems to have gone missing. Maybe I will find it on my hard drive one of these days... You wouldn't want to see it anyhow. It was one of the most ugly layouts ever to be created.

Year: 2005
Version: 9

Oh, yay. Here we have a DIV layer layout. Unlike my first attempt with DIVs for Rice Boy, this one actually looked decent. Decent being the key word there, because I still don't care for how I blended the pictures together.

This layout was created on Adobe Photoshop 3.0 and coded in Notepad. The pictures were both manga scans and anime pictures of Gohan from the Freeza saga.

Year: 2005
Version: 10
Comments:
This layout was similar to layout nine. It used a blend of pictures in the background of the banner, then had a picture slammed on top of them. It was different in the fact that those strips went along the top of the screen, it was purple, it used a different font, and it used Gohan from the Saiyaman and Buu sagas.

Mentioning of which, it took TEN versions to get me to use scans of Gohan as a teenager. Seriously, I don't get it. It's not like I hold anything against teen Gohan.

This was a DIV layout made on Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and coded in Notepad.

Year: 2006
Version: 11
Comments:
This layout was for Valentine's Day 2006. Yes, most of the doujinshi images used in the layout were from Dragonball H, one of the most, if not THE MOST popular Dragonball hentai doujinshis. I used the cute little non-sexual pictures.

I really love this layout. It's one of my favorite versions. Apparently others liked it as well, as the owner of another Gohan fansite that is still running stole my coding line per line and just put their own picture in for the banner, which greatly resembled my own. They even used the same color scheme.

This was made on Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and coded in Notepad. It was Rice Boy's first tables layout.

Year: 2006-2007
Version: 12
Comments:
This layout was long in the making. I started on it in July of '06 and finished it in November of '06. I believe I had some issues coding it. I can't remember. This layout was so simple. This was the only layout I created that had both 800x600 and 1024x768 versions. All layouts previously were made for 800x600 and all layouts after that have been made more for the 1024x768 resolution.

This featured a scan of Gohan from the February page of the 2006 Son Gohan calendar. It was ANOTHER iframes layout.

Year: 2007-2009
Version: 13
Comments:
Rice Boy's thirteenth layout. Apparently it was unlucky, as it stayed up from August of 2007 all the way until April of 2009. Version 13 also took me several months to complete. I started it in May and never got around coding it until August. I was so angry because there was this one pixel gap that appeared between the start of the content area and where the content actually began. It only appeared on Internet Explorer. You have no idea how upset I was when I learned that the problem I'd spent weeks trying to figure out was caused by a simple space that shouldn't have been in the coding. A.fricking.space. Like, with the space bar.

Despite how much trouble this layout gave me coding it, I loved it to bits. I was rather sad to take it down, as it had been Rice Boy's longest running version.

It was a tables layout created on Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 and coded in Notepad. The pictures were from various doujinshi.

Out of all the last five layouts I've made for the site, this one gave me the least amount of trouble. Remarkably, I had it made in a mere two days. That's impressive for me.

Anyhow, this version features manga scans of Gohan in the Saiyajin saga. The Saiyajin saga of Dragonball Kai was airing as I made the layout, so I was in the "Saiyajin saga mood."

The picture of Gohan as the monkey king on the right side of the screen was colored by me. I'm addicted to coloring things on the computer, so when I was re-reading the Saiyajin saga and saw that picture, I thought, "Hey, that's a cool picture. I'll color it and use it on a layout for Rice Boy." So, I did.

This layout is a DIV layer layout created on Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended and coded in both Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 and Notepad.
