Some people argue that he's only like that in the Buu saga, but I believe he's always been that way. The first time he met the Z-senshi, he hid behind Gokuh's leg! He's also the only one of the Z-senshi who actually doesn't like fighting. He was forced into it, and it's understandable that he decided to stop training after the threats resided. I think that the whole reason he always wanted to train when he was a child was to get out of studying, but after Gohan started to enjoy studying as a teenager, he didn't really have a reason to train. Short Bio: Son Gohan made his first appearence in the first episode of Dragonball Z, "A Sheltered Boy: My Name is Son Gohan." As you can imagine by the episode title, Gohan started off the series as a sheltered momma's boy who knew nothing about fighting. After being kidnapped by Radditsu, Piccolo trained him and although Gohan still did show that he was quite timid in battle through the fight with Nappa, he seemed to shake off a lot of that fear in the battle with Bejiita, and eventually became one of the stronger fighters in the Z-senshi. The one striking thing about Gohan is his "hidden power." It showed itself several times in the Saiyajin through Cell Games sagas whenever Gohan got extremely angry. Both Piccolo and Gokuh predicted that Gohan would grow up to be the strongest of the Z-senshi, and would have been correct, had Gohan enjoyed fighting. His "hidden power" made one last appearence in the Buu saga when he achieved the so-called "mystic" (little note here: I don't believe that the form was ever actually called that in the series. I think it spawned from fanfiction.) form from Rou Kaioshin. It was originally planned by Toriyama Akira that Gohan would be the one who destroyed Majin Buu, but because of the "rabid-Gokuh-fans" (XD), Gohan ended up getting absorbed by Buu and Gokuh destroyed Buu. After the Buu saga, Gohan married Videl and they had their daughter, Pan. He never seriously participated in any fighting after that. |
